I Will Be With You

A few days ago I read these verses from the book of Judges:

“‘But Lord,’ Gideon replied, ‘how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!’

“The Lord said to him, ‘I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.’” – Judges 6:15-16

Let it be known that Michele and I are not going to be war heroes destroying the Midianites while defending Israel from its oppressors. Despite that, like Gideon, we still have our own internal battles of feeling inadequate when compared with what we are being called to do. As we continue to move one step closer to living and working in Senegal, our minds begin thinking, “Are you sure you have called the right people, God? Perhaps you simply dialed the wrong area code and all of us just did not realize it until now.”

Then we read verses like the aforementioned ones and we better understand that it is okay to be the weakest; it is okay to be the least. It is okay have limitations because God is right here with us. He is the one moving ahead of us preparing the way, providing the victories, protecting, guiding, winning. I pray that as Michele and I continue to better see this that you also see this in your lives and where God has you.
